Android One Phones at Low Prices : Android One phones were announced in June 2014 by Indian born Sundar Pichai, head of Android. Now Pichai himself was present to launch three Android One phones in India. It shows how important India is for the Google. With the announcement of the phones Sindar Pichai himself wrote about the launch here on official Google blog.
Though Pichai writes that they are targeting five billion People of the world who are without a smartphone, out of which they first targeted One billion people in India. That is why they launched first three Android smartphones in India in partnership with Indian phone manufactures Spice, Karbonn and Micromax. All three phones are priced at Rs. 6399/-. Android One Smartphones at Low Prices is launched to target semi urban Indian market. Android One includes support for seven additional Indian languages including Hindi. It looks like Android One is invented for the price sensitive Indian Market.
Best part is that Android One phones will get all future upgrades from Android for next two years. Like Nexus and Moto phones, these are pure Android phones and software is not changed by the manufacturers.
